TAURUS
 alt=
This is a painting that I did awhile back. I actually did this one quite a while before the red freestyle dragon below. This painting means a lot to me as I did it while going through some heavy emotional trauma a few years back...ya, heartbreak. yuck.

Telepopmusic's "just breathe" is the biggest inspiration for this piece. Wow, you want to really feel the inside of my heart, and look through my eyes on this piece? That song breaks me even today. Blare that song with these tunes on random for a bit while you look at it and maybe you'll feel me.

  • Telepopmusic - Just Breathe
  • Red Hot Chili Peppers - Hey
  • PM Dawn - Set Adrift on Memory Bliss
  • 311 - Two Drops in the Ocean
  • Citizen Cope - Sideways
  • Bush - Inflatable
  • Orbital - Halcyon & On and On
  • Kid Cudi - Day And Night
  • Fergie - Mary Jane Shoes
  • Kanye & Keri Hilson - Love Comes Around
  • Chicane - Offshore Ambient Mix (this ones hard to find, you may have to youtube it)

This took me roughly 18 hours of work, and it was my first attempt at watercolor...period. I call it "Taurus."

I started out by throwing watercolor blue down on the paper and moved around the paint various ways until I felt effected by what I saw. After letting it dry I decided to take various fine tipped Prismacolor markers and did random lines and shapes. I sort of saw a jellyfish forming on the right side of the paper, then it looked like a angel or transformer jumping and shooting downward at the same time. lol Then the song probably changed dramatically because the bottom started to have cave-looking shapes and it has a very dark gloomy feel to it. A few days later, and a few different paced songs later I finished the left side and drew eyes in the painting because I saw a Taurus in what I drew. I am a Taurus - April 28, 1985...thought that was a little crazy. This painting is the single-most emotional piece of artwork I have ever created to date. I've had some emotional stuff, but this takes the prize.

This composition is probably my new favorite. It took over 24 hours to finish, and it was completely freestyled from start to finish. I started out with watercolor and watched the shapes of color transform in the water. Then I contrasted with black and added the coral/trees/whatever you want to call them lol. I saw the shape of a dragon rearing back and blowing fire where the orange paint dried...so I went with it and used line to really focus your attention on the fire and make you believe the fire was pouring from his mouth. Finally I drew the lines of the dragon and the wings came last.

This was done before my birthday. A year after I did "The Taurus" and I believe it bleeds perseverence. I feel like I rose out of the ashes a different person and I'm 10 times stronger now. I feel like a new person. I look at life completely differently. I live for the now and I appreciate every day I have. I feel like I've transitioned back into the old me. I'm back. Watch out world...

The paper it is drawn on is 19"x27" so it is very large. It is extremely detailed when viewed up close, so I recommend clicking on the images above and looking close to see the life in the image.

This piece was in an art show on UT campus (Jester Bld) the week of April 19th-23rd and it got in the Daily Texan. (UT paper) Daily Texan Articleunfortunately being a student paper, they published my art, made no mention of my name, and didn't give it any reviews lol. They just used my art without my permission. Thanks for the copyright infringement guys...glad you like my work!

Thank you to everyone for coming to the show, and thank you for the comments and the support! If you have any comments, critiques, or suggestions please feel free to write...
